Music lovers on a mission
Since we released our iconic P40 amplifier in 1968 we have pursued one simple objective: to produce audio equipment that faithfully creates a pure and natural sound. Whilst our contemporaries in America like heavier bass in their playback and often in Asia brands emphasise a mid-range mix to carry vocals, we at Cambridge Audio are sold on the unfiltered, unadulterated ‘British Sound’.
Our sole purpose is to enable people to enjoy their music as the artist made it to be heard. We learn by listening to our customers and to our colleagues. What we learn we share. We’re an open, accessible and democratic brand. With a dedication to progress. We’re ever curious in pursuit of a better way to deliver natural, authentic, ‘British’ sound.
Our excellence is achieved by sourcing the right components that are expertly applied and finely tuned. These ingenious products can only be designed, developed and delivered by a team. A team with respect for all. Always true to our word, when we say we’ll do something, we do it.
To provide what’s known as ‘British Sound’. This dates back to the 1960s when three things happened simultaneously - British bands began to enjoy unprecedented global success, British studios led the way in recording technology and British manufacturers started to make the best hi-fi equipment in the world.
Britain made a name for itself in all three areas but it was the studios and manufacturers that began to develop systems to capture and replay music as naturally as possible. Over time, this sound has become recognisably ‘British’.
Ironically, ‘British Sound’ isn’t really a sound at all. It’s simply the purest and most faithful reproduction of whatever music you’re listening to, so you hear it exactly the way its creators wanted it to sound. We achieve this by identifying the best possible components for the job and then fine-tuning how we put them together so that nothing comes between you and your music.
We remove the barriers between you and your music, so you can just get.
This is everyone in our team at Cambridge Audio. In each picture is our favourite moment in our favourite song. We’re all music lovers, musicians, and gig goers first and foremost which is why all our energy goes into making sure our products make our moments sound exactly as they were made to be heard. If we sit in our test room and they get our hearts thumping and feet tapping then we know we’ve nailed it.
We feel it’s right to give something back, so we give 5% of our profits to charity. We always support any of our colleague’s personal efforts such as sponsored runs or rides and we do our own fundraisers such as our SE1 headphone campaign where customers could purchase our unique in-ear headphones for whatever price they wanted and every single penny went to the fantastic Youth Music charity. More info on that here.
Our commitment to the environment
We take our commitment to the environment very seriously and even more importantly, our responsibility to anyone involved in the production and distribution of our products. We only work with partners who share our commitment to protect and preserve the environment. This specifically includes compliance with local government laws and international standards as well as the U.S. and E.U. regulations.
We take this a step further though and aim to minimise the effects of our business on the environment by encouraging the recycling and re-use of components and reducing the amount that is sent landfill sites. We even stopped printing service manuals to save on the paper! Whilst we endeavour to ensure our customers have many years of fault-free product ownership we have a corporate responsibility to encourage our consumers to recycle old products so as to reduce damage to the environment.
For us, a job well done is its own satisfaction, but it’s still lovely when others recognise our excellence.
We’re so dedicated to putting sound first that in our time we’ve created many unique technologies that have been at the forefront of audio innovation to guarantee our products the purest sound.
This document started out as a presentation, it’s not quite a book, but it is an introduction to Audio Partnership and Cambridge Audio
